Aluminum capping creates a low-maintenance finished surface over suitable exterior trim around windows, doors and other details. Dawson’s includes custom exterior capping in Greater Sudbury renovation projects.
Where aluminum capping is used
Capping is commonly formed to fit exterior wood trim and transitions. It can help reduce ongoing painting and give updated windows, doors, soffit, fascia and siding a coordinated appearance.
Good detailing matters
Exterior metal should be fitted so that seams, edges and transitions shed water appropriately. The existing materials beneath the capping also need to be considered; covering deteriorated material without addressing the cause does not solve the underlying problem.
Coordinate capping with exterior work
Aluminum capping is often most efficient when planned with window and door replacement, vinyl siding or soffit and fascia. This allows colours and profiles to work together.
